Sometimes, instead of playing songs on the piano, I simply play the piano.

I'm not especially good at improvising on the piano, but I enjoy the challenge. It takes a significant amount of effort to carry a tune when I don't really know what I'm doing.

Sometimes when I play the piano (instead of songs), I play loudly--with reckless abandon. With my limited talent, I dare the piano turn my commands into music. And, despite my shortcomings, the piano usually complies.

You see, there is art to the madness of those moments. Or, perhaps, a madness to the art. Either way, melodies can only exist in contrast with the chaos of life. And, sometimes, it is from that very chaos that the best melodies emerge.
