Apparently Today is Wednesday

1. I spent the entire day under the impression that today was Thursday. Everything made a lot more sense when I found out that it wasn't.

2. Jazz is to music as basses are to choir. Jazz is just cooler than all other genre's of music, and everybody who's affiliated with jazz knows it. There's nothing to prove. It's just a fact. Plus, people affiliated with jazz just have way more fun when they're affiliating with it, than people that affiliate with any other form of music.

3. I found Reese's Sticks at the Creamery. Heck. Yes.

Late Night Adventures:

So, last night, I was on one of my nightly walks around campus, when I decided that as soon as I got back to my apartment, I was going to cook the last half of the pack of bacon that I had in my freezer, make a lime soda float and watch The Island. Then I did it.

The Whore of All the Earth:

So, apparently my roommates don't believe in going on dates with girls "just for fun." In fact, I was informed by one of them that he considers it "prostitution within the bounds of the law of chastity." He also claimed that any boy willing to go on a dates with girls just-for-fun is a man-whore. (He was being dead serious, too.)

I don't even know how to respond to that.

ABC's of Education

I have never met a person who gets A's and doesn't work for them. A's are serious business and take some serious effort. Now, people's motives for working hard enough to get A's vary and as such it makes it hard to stereotype them.

That said, some people work really hard to get B's. Other people work a little. And some people do nothing. The people who do nothing to get B's are the most hated of all students, and oddly enough, they are often times mistaken for A students.

I have always been a B student who does nothing. B's are easy for me. They always have been. Now that I'm in college, B's are a little bit tougher than they have been in the past but they're also a little bit tougher for everybody else.

I don't brag about it. I generally don't publicize it. I don't even think about it that much. (There's really not much point in thinking about how effectively you can do nothing...). I try fairly hard to get as many A's as possible; I'm just not very good at trying.

The moral of the story is that you can hate me if you want. Just don't mistake me for an A student. Those kids are hardcore.

Pete and Pete:

The Adventures of Pete and Pete is the essence of my childhood. If ever there was a childhood memory worth remembering, the embodiment of that memory can be found, somewhere, in a Pete and Pete episode. The show is just that epically 90's.

Somewhere, in the rapidly changing images and the mellow, indie background music glimmers the shadow of a younger me, dancing among the pixels and sound waves. As a child, my perception of reality was permanently shaped by every plot line and every stereotypical, yet absurdly over the top, character. That show, in many ways, became the subscript to my life.

Big Pete continues to be a voice of reason, calling for a return to the things that matter most in life. The lessons he taught all of us, as children in the 90's, will reverberate through us into eternity.

Random Thoughts:

1. I have a tendency to get really bored going down stairs. As a result, I've gotten rather skilled at descending staircases as quickly as possible. I've also gotten really good exploiting the lameness of going down stairs and making it as personally entertaining as I can muster. The more bored I get, the more I compensate by consciously descending in a more entertaining manner.

2. I keep getting hit on by freshmen in my classes. It's kind of weird, but I find it mildly amusing. It's especially funny when they find out that I'm an RM and stop talking to me. It kind of reminds me of the handful of times last year, when upperclassmen girls that I was sitting next only started talking to me after they heard me mention to somebody else that I had served a mission...

3. I walked through Heritage Halls on my way to the Creamery, today. It was the weirdest thing that I've done in a very long time. I lived there longer than I've lived anywhere else in the last three years. I kept expecting to see all the people that I used to pass, every time I used to walk that particular path. Except, none of them live there anymore...

A Story

Once upon time there was a boy. This boy decided to ignore the pile of homework lying, metaphorically, in front of him and start a new blog. I can't really blame him. Homework is kind of lame. The end.
